I really liked krussell's thread comparing the 1090R and 1290R, so I thought I'd start an equivalent thread for their road-oriented counterparts. First let me say I cannot hold a candle to krussell's commitment to the cause: I haven't bought both bikes just to compare them.
Or ktm guys who says 950 is a lot better then 1190 with all means . This list goes like this some of them finds non abs brakes are far more better then abs .carburettors better then electronic ignitions.
The larger fuel tank is pretty nice too. Both my riding buds carry spare fuel. We notice the torque difference when we swap his 1190s for my 1290. 1290 has slightly better wind protection. 1190 aftermarket cruise works better than my stock 1290. Stock crash bars on 1290 are good. Zero on 1190s. Just my experience riding with an inmate and his
The 1090 only feels top heavy when you are pushing it around. Once rolling the 1090 drops a lot of weight. I haven't looked this up, but the 1090/1190 feels like the steering is much quicker than the 950/990 ADV's. It feels similar to the changes KTM did between the older slow handling 530 EXC and the 2012 500 EXC.

IF, we are talking the 1260 S Ducati twin vs the 1290 Super Adventure S the Duc is rated at 150 hp vs the 160 hp of the SDS. The Duke is reported to have 96 lb/ft of torque vs the 100 + of the KTM.
1290 is way superior for clocking up road miles (as is the 1190) I have owned all 3 in S guise and the Wife had ridden the 1090 / 1190 and really loved the extra torque of the 1190 over the 1090 - and the 1290 takes the torque to another level over the 1190. 1090 vs 890 is probably a better comparison, and the 890 is a lot more compact and
If I had bought a KTM 1290SA I would have compared it against the XP but since I bought the 1190 then that is were the comparison comes from. Anyway although I do not disagree with you my wallet does, the 1290SA as a second-hand bike would have come in around ยฃ3,000 more than the 1190. To deep for my pockets. #4.
Aug 12, 2007. Oddometer: 3,342. Location: 356 miles SE or 539 miles NW of Orla, Texas. Jeff Slavens sent an add for a KTM 1190 high fender mount. That caught my eye as I had done a high fender mount for my 990 and it worked out well. I received my mount (it is actually produced by Flatland Racing so you could get it there also).
ALBUQUERQUE, NM. A number of my friends have recently purchased KTM 1090 Adventures. I have a 2008 KTM 950 Super Enduro R and am wondering which is the best bike between the two for riding dirt roads. The 950 is about 50 lbs lighter and is easier to mount and dismount than the 1090. I love my SE and would hate to sell it and find out later that
